Japenese x and +

with 3 comments

This week I received the July fabric for the Sew Australia bee.  The queen bee held off sending my fabric with the others due to my vacation in the states and wanted to be sure I would be able to complete the blocks (due to my sewing machine situation).  I appreciated the thoughtfulness and therefore made these a priority!  Of course I wanted to participate!

I must have been living under a rock because the Japenese x and + quilts are apparently a big deal and this is the first time I have seen them!  This pattern didn’t jump out to me as one that I HAVE TO HAVE but it is a great idea for one of the baby quilts I’m tasked to make for one of my sorority sisters.  It came together relatively easy/quick and will allow me to show off numerous fabrics (since a large number of my sorority sisters provided fabric to be incorporated).

I like how she is incorporating he grey polka dots as the background for everyone’s block, this will make the quilt a less busy/scrappy.  I think I will use white (since this will be a pink and green quilt) for the background.  My mind is already racing with all the sewing I need to do to make up for the past 1.5 months!

I liked how these blocks turned out, they are really growing on me the more I look at them (and the more I envision my pink and green version!).

  1. Hey Kyishia! Do have a final picture of how a completed quilt from your sewing bee turns out?

    • Hey Heavy, I sent you a fb message, here is an example of what a completed one will look like. This person has not finished her quilt yet so there isn’t a finished picture.
